Saint Just is the new project featuring members of Algiers, Ryan Mahan and Lee Tesche, alongside MOTHERBOARD vocalist Kyle Kidd, known for their work with Irreversible Entanglements, Moor Mother, and Lonnie Holley.
The group’s single and video, “You Betta”, provides a first glimpse of the group’s music, centering Kidd’s transcendent voice in a production combining elements of industrial, Hi-NRG, and horror synth in a contemporary soundscape. The video, taking cues from Michael Mann’s Manhunter, uses practical effects and lighting to transform tropes of love and longing into something sinister and unsettling.
